The extension and renovation of our home, ‘ Bulmer Gardens’ holds a special place in my heart as it marked the beginning of my journey as a designer. We wanted to create a space with contemporary, aesthetic interiors while retaining the warmth and coziness of a home.
This project involved the major renovation of a three-bedroom house with extensions for the rear, first floor and a loft conversion. To achieve an open space living, we had to completely remodel the ground floor. We were able to create a movie concept family room, a formal living room that opens out to a beautifully curated and landscaped garden, a dedicated prayer room and an outhouse that houses a gym. By moving the kitchen closer to the family room we were able to convert it to the central hub of the house.
We were able to achieve an open and wide hallway with the inclusion of a new open staircase. The first floor possesses a spacious landing with a thoughtfully created space for utility, Master Bedroom with an ensuite and two additional spacious bedrooms. The loft was successfully converted into a bedroom with an ensuite best suited for a teenage girl.
We were keen on installing state-of-the art fittings and finishes and opting for complete home automation and layered lighting controlled with Lutron. By incorporating modern lighting with designer fittings like Flos, Eglo, Innermost Bowler Hat, we were able to create a cohesive lighting scheme in every space.
This venture gave me the opportunity to work closely with talented architects, builders and AV specialists and be an integral part of the design cycle.
Bulmer Gardens is now a contemporary house for a modern family with mindful spaces for family and individual activities, without losing the essence of a welcoming home.
