I strongly believe that there is creativity in all of us that is waiting to be brought out and expressed. However, more than often fear, apprehension and doubt supress the creativity and the artist in us. The human mind is a reservoir of ideas, buzzing with imagination and creativity, wanting to express these ideas. It takes a lot of boldness to give them form. Some ideas may not follow the norms of the society or may not be in line with certain rules of conformity. A true artist is one who can break through these barriers without fear of failure or criticism.
Advancement of technology and the extensive use of social media has resulted in a wider reach of the work of an artist. With this exposure comes both praise and critique. It is important for the artist to pay heed to constructive criticism and ignore the ones that do not aid creative growth. Opinions will differ. What is good for one may be bad for another. Courage to take on criticism and use it to bring out the creativity is very important for an artist.
Henri Matisse’s simple quote “Creativity takes courage” gives a powerful message that every human has an artist inside waiting to awe the world. All it takes is to make that first brave step of unleashing the artist.
